Women’s Issues

Manju Kak is currently Hon. Treasurer of All India Women’s Conference, one of India’s largest organizations devoted to the upliftment of Women. She has been a volunteer at the All India Women’s Conference for two decades. As  an activist in the field of women’s empowerment she has worked at the grass-root level and also as a journalist with Women’s Feature Service, a feminist news agency, writing extensively in Indian and foreign newspapers such as The Telegraph, Times of India, Pioneer, Hindu, Asian Age,  etc. She also worked as consultant on women’s political empowerment, a project run by WFS and UN Women.

She has attended some global conferences on behalf of AIWC, such as Global Governance Conference held at Montreal, Canada ; Special Session of the General Assembly for an overall review and appraisal of the implementation of the Habitat Agenda (Istanbul+5), UN Headquarters, New York ; CSW 60 UN Headquarters, New York ; Conference on Sustainable Mountain Development in India, Darjeeling, etc.

Others

As a volunteer, Manju Kak also ran a slum school in the Lodi Road Basti Vikas Kendra (New Delhi) and at Nizamuddin Basti, including Computer Literacy programs, with the support of Som Dutt Foundation and Delhi Government for 3 years.
